Westerby Group’s Spirited Team Olympics: A Testament to Teamwork

August 16, 2024

On Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, the Westerby Group hosted a successful Team Olympics day at Victoria Park. This event was more than just an afternoon of games; it celebrated teamwork, laughter, and new memories.

Approximately 30 eager competitors from across the Westerby Group gathered at Victoria Park, prepared to demonstrate their skills and team spirit. They were not alone; a cohort of around 30 enthusiastic supporters, who played a crucial role in amplifying the event’s atmosphere, accompanied them.

The event, held from 1 to 3 p.m., featured a series of fun yet challenging activities designed to encourage participation. From traditional beanbag tossing and hula hoop contests to tug-of-war tests of team strength, each activity offered a unique blend of challenge and enjoyment. Innovative twists like three-legged relays and backward races required coordination and communication, while the egg-and-spoon race evoked nostalgic memories for many.

Recognising participants’ effort and enthusiasm was a key part of the event. A series of awards, carefully designed to celebrate the day’s standout performers, underscored the event’s inclusivity and appreciation for everyone’s contribution.

Following a day filled with invigorating activities, participants and supporters convened at The Old Horse in Leicester for a well-deserved BBQ. This post-event gathering provided an excellent opportunity for everyone to unwind and reflect on the day’s experiences.

The success of the Team Olympics can be attributed to the vision and dedication of Lucy Read, who spearheaded the organising efforts. Lucy’s focus on fostering teamwork and enjoyment underscores the core values of the Westerby Group, where employee engagement and satisfaction remain paramount.

Reflecting on the event, Stephen Harvey, the Group Managing Director, emphasised the significance of the Team Olympics. “It was a great day all around,” he stated. “The energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork exhibited truly embody the spirit of our group. Events like this remind us of the importance of connection and community in our workplace.”
