Westerby sponsors Leicestershire & Rutland CFA County Cup tournaments

October 31, 2023

Leicestershire & Rutland County FA has kicked off its 2023/24 County Cup programme with the support of Westerby, who are sponsoring of the ladies’ and men’s over-18s tournament finals this season.

Leicestershire & Rutland CFA lead and empower grassroots football across our region. Their County Cups are a programme of knockout competitions that take place throughout the football season. The tournaments play a key role in facilitating footballers of all ages and abilities from Leicestershire and Rutland in having fun as they compete against each other.

To be able to run the tournaments, which are a much-loved part of the region’s footballing calendar, Leicestershire & Rutland CFA rely on sponsorship from community-minded businesses like ourselves from across our region.

This season Westerby is sponsoring the finals of eight tournaments: the Challenge Cup, Senior Cup, Saturday Intermediate Cup, Saturday Trophy, Women’s Cup, Sunday Premier Cup, Sunday Intermediate Cup and Sunday Trophy. All these tournaments will take place between April and June 2024.

This year, Leicestershire & Rutland CFA is particularly excited about the return of the Challenge Cup after a four-year absence. This tournament includes teams from the highest level of the Leicestershire & Rutland CFA, such as Coalville, Harborough Town, Melton Mowbray and Barwell.

“We are always keen to work with businesses who value their local community. So, it’s fantastic to be able to welcome back the Westerby Group as a County Cup competition sponsor. Westerby has a long history with our County Cup competitions and seemed the perfect fit when bringing back the Challenge Cup this season,” comments Joe Dunmore, CEO of Leicestershire & Rutland County FA.

As a long-established Leicester business with strong links to the local community through a variety of sporting sponsorship deals ranging from children’s football to women’s netball, we’re delighted to continue our association with the County Cup by sponsoring these eight tournaments this year

“Getting involved in our local community is very important to us, and what better way could there be to do that than by sponsoring the County Cups?” comments Westerby’s Group Managing Director Stephen Harvey. “All of us here at Westerby are very much looking forward to cheering on our local teams in the various tournaments, and we would like to wish the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA and all the players involved a successful and enjoyable 2023/24 season.”
