Westerby sponsor Soar Valley Allsorts Netball Club

November 7, 2023

We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of Soar Valley Allsorts Netball Club.

Formed in 2011, Soar Valley Allsorts Netball Club is a small, local netball team which grew out of the Back to Netball initiative. This scheme was formed in 2009 to encourage women who previously enjoyed netball back to the sport, as well as offering an opportunity for those who have never played netball to get active and give the game a try.

In keeping with the ethos of the Back to Netball initiative, Soar Valley Allsorts welcome members of all ages and abilities and operate an inclusive policy for team selection. This means everyone has an equal opportunity to play in a position of their choice within the constraints of fairness and availability.

The Soar Valley Allsorts play competitive netball in the Loughborough Town Netball League. In the winter months, the team train at Rawlins Academy in Quorn and their summer outdoor training venue is Humphrey Perkins School in Barrow-Upon-Soar.
As well as enjoying their weekly training sessions and regular league fixtures, the Soar Valley Allsorts also run an active social programme, which is an important aspect of the club.

“As a Leicester-based business, we like to get involved with our local community in many different ways and grassroots sport is a key part of that,” comments Westerby’s Group Managing Director Stephen Harvey. “So, we’re delighted to sponsor the kit of the Soar Valley Allsorts and we look forward to supporting them throughout the winter league season and beyond.”

The sponsorship comes at exciting time when netball is enjoying a fantastic resurgence in England thanks to the Back to Netball scheme. Recently the sport’s governing body England Netball reported a weekly average of nearly 685,000 women and girls playing netball nationwide within a network of 3,500 netball clubs. Add to that the wider buzz around the sport caused by England reaching the World Cup final against Australia in August, and it’s clear now is a very exciting time to be involved in netball.
