Westerby Team Volunteers at Rainbows Charity Shop

February 16, 2026

At Westerby, we believe in supporting our local community. Recently, our team had the privilege of spending a day volunteering at the Rainbows Charity shop in Shepshed. Rainbows provides essential care and support to families across the East Midlands, and we were proud to contribute to such a vital cause.

Why We Chose Rainbows

Our decision to support Rainbows stems from our commitment to community investment, especially as many charities face funding challenges. Recognising the significant impact of Rainbows’ work, we felt a responsibility to help them continue their mission.

A Day of Hands-On Help

Our team of eight volunteers put their skills to use sorting donations and stocking shelves. It was a humbling experience that gave us insight into the complex operations of a successful charity shop. We were particularly impressed by the dedication of the shop’s volunteer team.

Reflecting on the day, our Financial Controller, Louise Jarram, shared:

“It was remarkable to see the generosity of the community’s donations and understand the effort that goes into running the shop. The Rainbows team made us feel genuinely welcome, and this is an initiative we’re keen to continue.”

Our Impact

While it’s hard to put a monetary value on our efforts, we were proud to contribute over 40 bags of quality items to the shop. Every item donated and every hour spent volunteering directly supports the life-changing work Rainbows delivers for families in need.

Looking Ahead

Despite the rainy weather, our team’s spirits remained high. We’re already planning more ways to support Rainbows and other local charities as part of our ongoing commitment to our community.

A sincere thank you to the Rainbows team for welcoming us and to everyone who donates to their shops. Together, we can create a lasting impact.
